OxfamReads!: Katharine D’Souza

Free event! Thursday, June 25th at 4 p.m.

In this session, local author Katharine D’Souza will read from and talk about her novels Deeds Not Words and Park Life, both set in Birmingham.

Deeds Not Words finds a museum curator uncovering secrets from her own family’s history and being inspired by a suffragette ancestor to do the right thing in her own life, while Park Life tells the story of very different neighbours who become friends as they help each other solve what turn out to be very similar problems. Park Life is set predominantly in Kings Heath and Moseley and makes a feature of our wonderful parks and independent cafes. Katharine will also talk about her writing process and why she finds Birmingham such great inspiration for stories.

Katharine came to Birmingham to study at university here and liked the city so much she stayed on. She writes novels and short stories and is a member of the Pow-Wow writers’ group in Moseley.
